Let’s bake two of the most popular and beloved Romanian recipes: savoury Sărățele and sweet Cornulețe.
Sărățele or covrigei are cheese breadsticks or knots, sprinkled with caraway seeds and served as a snack. They are very easy to make and incredibly moreish, which makes them ideal for our online class. We will have time to make both shapes.
Cornulețe are a wonderful little treat, filled with plum jam or Turkish delight, they go very well with a cup of tea or black coffee. They also keep relatively well, so you can send them as a gift too.
On the course, we will be talking about fermented dairy and how we use it in Romanian baking to make doughs that are a joy to roll, or to make wonderfully moist cakes.
Prepping: minimal prepping needed, basically you only need to weigh all the ingredients. Diets: the course is not suitable for vegan, dairy free or gluten free. None of the recipes use yeast.
The course will be held on Zoom. Closer to the date, you will receive all the recipes and instructions. After the course, you will be sent a link to the recording, which will be valid for 10 days. In this way, you can cook the dishes at your own pace, if you can't cook along with us.
